Please note, daily permits expire each year on December 31. The expiration date is printed on the back of the product.
Chicago residents living in an established residential parking zone may be eligible to purchase a Residential Zone Parking Permit ($25/year) and/or purchase Chicago Residential Parking Daily Passes ($8/sheet) for guests.
Once you have a Residential Zone Parking Permit, your Vehicle Sticker will include a Zone Number at the top. If the word “NONE” is there instead, you do not have a Residential Zone Parking Permit.
The following restrictions apply:
- To purchase a Residential Zone Parking Permit, you must reside at a Chicago address in a designated residential parking zone and have proof of address.
- The Residential Zone Parking Permit expires at the same time as the City Vehicle Sticker on which its Zone Number was printed.
- The Office of the City Clerk reserves the right to deny sale of the Residential Zone Parking Permit if it is determined that the purchaser has attempted to violate the rules regulating the Residential Zone Parking Permit.
To establish current residency within a residential parking zone, the purchaser must visit a City Clerk Office and present the following information at the time of purchase:
- First name
- Last name
- Complete mailing address
AND the following documentation:
- A valid driver’s license or state ID showing a home address within the residential zone
OR
- Any government issued ID such as a U.S. Passport or U.S. Military ID
AND any of the following documents that include the same name and complete address:
- A current mortgage or lease
- A bill for any of the following utilities or services:
- Property tax
- Water, gas, or electric
- Landline phone (cell phone bill NOT accepted)
- Satellite or cable television
- USPS Change of Address Confirmation.
If you have a current Illinois Driver’s License or state ID OR a Customer Code, you may purchase online. If you would like to have a Customer Code created for you to purchase passes online, please bring in copies of your photo ID and proof of address in person or submit documents to our eform.
A Customer Code is required to purchase Residential Zone Parking Permits. Customer Codes expire and must be renewed on an annual or semi-annual basis.
The Residential Zone Parking Permit expires at the same time as the Vehicle Sticker on which its Zone Number is printed.
The Office of the City Clerk reserves the right to deny sale of the zone parking permit if it is determined that the purchaser has attempted to violate the rules regulating the Chicago Residential Zone Parking Program.
The Office of the City Clerk reserves the right to void any order – and void shipment of the order – if it is determined that the purchase was made fraudulently.
Online orders CANNOT BE CANCELED.
Vehicle Stickers are only eligible for refunds in the case of duplicate sticker purchases or if the Office of the City Clerk determines the sticker has invalid information on it.
Daily Passes are not exchangeable for any other product.
Daily Passes are not refundable.
Purchasers must not provide false or otherwise misleading information or attempt to violate the limit of 45 Daily Passes per household per 30 days.
The Office of the City Clerk reserves the right to temporarily disqualify a purchaser from the program if it is determined that they have attempted to violate the rules regulating the Chicago Residential Parking Daily Pass Program.
Any online order not claimed within 90 days, regardless of the reason, will be deemed forfeited and not claimable. Such online orders will not be available for a no-fee reissue.
Use the Residential Zone Parking Map to determine if a Chicago address is in a residential parking zone.
Residential Zone Parking limits parking on designated streets in densely populated or highly trafficked areas to Chicago residents and their guests, for either all times or for certain days/hours.
Vehicles parking in a residential parking zone during applicable days/hours must display a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker or Daily Pass with a Zone Number that matches the residential parking zone permit number posted on the street signs.

Zone Parking Map and Street Guide
The Residential Zone Parking Map was created in partnership with the Smart Chicago Collaborative and is an open source of data utilizing the City of Chicago’s Data Portal.
Chicago residents living in an established residential parking zone are eligible for purchasing Chicago Residential Parking Daily Passes, which are guest passes that are valid for 24 hours upon the date and time of display. Be certain to write the date and time on these passes in ink, and make no additional markings in the space provided.
Note: Daily Passes expire each year on December 31. The expiration date is printed on the back of the pass.
Daily Passes cost $8 for 1 sheet of 15 passes, $16 for 2 sheets of 15 passes (30 total passes), and $24 for 3 sheets of 15 passes (45 total permits). You may only purchase 3 sheets per household per 30-day period. Please allow 10 business days for order delivery by mail.
Residents may purchase online with the Customer Code printed on the bottom right corner of their Daily Passes sheet. If you do not have a Customer Code, please email us at ezbuy@cityofchicago.org with proof of residency see what documents we accept as proof of residency.

If you already have a Vehicle Sticker and need to add or change a Zone Number, please bring the Vehicle Sticker and proof of residency to a City Clerk location. We will provide you with a replacement vehicle sticker, but we need your old vehicle sticker even if it is damaged. Additional fees may apply.
If you already have a Vehicle Sticker but need to add a Zone Number to your Vehicle Sticker, please bring in the following items to a City Clerk location:
- Your old Vehicle Sticker;
- Proof of address within a residential zone (see what documentation we accept)
- A photo ID that matches the name on the Vehicle Sticker and the address documentation.
The cost to add a Zone Number to your Vehicle Sticker is $25 per year and will be prorated based on the duration remaining on your Vehicle Sticker.
If you already have a Zone Number on your Vehicle Sticker and need to change to a different Zone Number (e.g., You moved from one zone to another), the administrative fee is $5.00.
Residential zones are established per city ordinances introduced by Chicago Aldermen. Chapter 9-64-090 of the Municipal Code outlines the requirements to establish a residential zone.
